Description:
Uncommon slender terrestrial herb, usually less than 35 cm. Leaves 2-4, sheathing at the base. Inflorescence terminal, dense, hemispherical. Flowers white to cream with purple spots on the inside of the petals. Lateral sepals spreading; lip minute.

Derivation of specific name: galpinii: after E.E. Galpin (1858-1941), a botanical collector
