Description:
Small, slender terrestrial, 10-20 cm tall. Pseudobulbs usually partly above ground. Leaves partly developed at flowering time, 3-9, linear, up to 30 cm long. Inflorescence laxly 4-9-flowered. Flowers variable in colour, different colour forms often occurring in a single colony. Sepals somewhat spreading with the tips curved back, purple to purple-brown. Petals overlying the column, bright yellow or yellowish-white with a purple-brown mid line. Lip 3-lobed in the apical third, bright yellow with purple veins inside or greenish-white with yellow papillae. Spur 4-6 mm long, cylindric, usually slightly swollen at the tip, parallel to the ovary and often slightly upcurved at the tip.

Habitat: Occurring in Miombo or Brachystegia boehmii woodland, often on dry rocky hillsides.
