Description: |
Climbing shrub, stems 1-4 m, Leaves: lamina 15-50 × 3-9 mm, elliptic, distinctly 3-nerved from the base, merging into the bracts. Inflorescence with c. 20 flowers; bracts leaf-like; bracteoles minute, falling quickly. Flowers white or yellowish-green; perianth 4.5-6.5 mm, tubular. Fruit c. 6-7 mm. |

Derivation of specific name: | schimperianus: although several botanical collectors by the name Schimper are known from history, the most likely person for whom this species is named is Georg Heinrich Wilhelm Schimper (1804-1878) who collected particularly in Ethiopia. |
