A spreading beautiful tree, with broad horizontal branches. The bark is smooth and flaking, the trunk and branches showing characteristic rounded bulges. Leaves compound, with 10 to 16 pairs of small asymmetrical leaflets; flowers small and inconspicuous, creamy-white in short terminal heads; pods hairless and purplish in colour.
Derivation of specific name: glaucescens: becoming glaucous (bluish-green)
Habitat: Always in rocky habitats: on slopes and summits of rocky hills and kopjes.
Altitude range: (metres) 400 - 1660 m
