Description:
Bark prominently vertically and horizontally fissured with × rectangular plates. Leaves paripinnate with erect stalked glands on the rhachis between each pair of leaves. Leaf indumentum variable ranging from glabrous to hairy.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: singueana: from Singu in Ethiopia, where the type specimen was collected by Frederic Cailliaud (1787-1869) on his voyage up the Nile between 1819 and 1822. (Drummond, 1981)
Habitat: In woodland and wooded grassland.
Altitude range: (metres) 710 - 1630 m

Worldwide distribution: Widespread in tropical Africa but absent from the wetter forest areas
