Description: |
Large tree to 30 m. Leaves imparipinnate with 7-11 pairs of oblong leaflets. Fruit a samara. |
Notes: | Very commonly planted as a street tree in Harare. This species is a "rain tree", i.e. it may become infested with a spittle-bug which causes apparent rain to fall from the tree. Further information about this phenomenon may be found in Note 20. The distinctive fruits resemble those of Acer, Pterolobium and Securidaca. |
