Description: |
Sub-erect, scrambling or occasionally prostrate perennial herb up to c. 1 m tall, growing from a large underground tuber. Stems pale yellowish-brown, up to 1.5 m long. Leaves 3-foliolate, blue-green with yellow veining; leaflets rhombic-obovate to almost round, entire to somewhat 3-lobed; lateral lobes somewhat asymmetric, more or less densely velvety. Inflorescences in axillary racemes, 6-29 cm long with 2-3 flowers at each node. Standard dark blue to mauve inside, more greyish outside. Pods linear-oblong, up to 10.5 × 1.7 cm, densely covered in short and longer hairs, dehiscent. |
