Description:
Shrub or small tree to 8 m tall. Leaves: petiole up to 1 cm; lamina ovate to elliptic, glabrous beneath; base cuneate to rounded; apex bluntly acuminate. Flowers borne in an axillary 1-2(-3)-flowered fascicle. Calyx 2-4 mm. Petals linear to linear-spathulate, 25-30 × 4 mm. Staminal tube 15-25 mm long, white, distinctly curved, not bearded at the throat; appendages shorter than the anthers. Ovary 9-10-locular. Capsule 8 × 13 mm, depressed-spherical, shallowly furrowed, puberulous.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: fischeri: named after Dr Gustav Fischer (1848-1886), German doctor and naturalist, who collected in Kenya and Tanzania.
