Description: |
Multi-stemmed shrub or small tree. Leaves elliptic to obovate, thinly textured. Flowers creamy green, inconspicuous, unisexual on different trees. Fruit fleshy, berry-like, white. |
Notes: | Can be confused in leaf with Erythroxylon zambesiacum. See that species for a discussion of the differences. |
Derivation of specific name: | virosa: with an unpleasant smell. |
Habitat: | In woodland and along forest margins, often on rocky outcrops or termite mounds. |
