Description:
Shrub or small unarmed tree. Leaves narrowly ovate, more or less hairy on both surfaces, 3-veined from a more or less symmetrical base; margin finely toothed. Flowers in dense axillary clusters, small, yellowish. Fruit ovoid, c. 1 cm long, reddish-brown when ripe.
Notes: The record in the images appears to be the first record from the Eastern Division, although very close to the boundary with the Southern Division.

Habitat: In coastal forest, sand forest and riverine fringes.
Altitude range: (metres) Up to 500 m
Flowering time:Nov - Dec
Worldwide distribution: DRC, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe distribution: N,E,S
Growth form(s): Tree, shrub over 2 m.
