Description: |
Evergreen shrub or small tree. Branches with distinct stipular scars. Leaves oblong-elliptic to obovate, 7-20 cm long, Leathery, glossy bright green to blueish-green above, pale green beneath, sometimes hairy beneath, veining prominent on both surfaces; margin with sharp, spiny teeth; petiole 1-2 cm long, channelled above, finely hairy; stipules 5-10 mm long but falling early. Flowers c.10 mm in diameter, pale to deep yellow, in dense terminal and axillary heads up to 8 cm long; petals reflexed. Capsule ovoid, 3-lobed, c.1.5 cm long with a wrinkled surface, purplish to brown when ripe. |
