Description: |
Perennial herb, usually partially submerged. Stems red, 10-60 cm long, arising from a creeping rhizome, rooting at the nodes. Leaves usually in whorls of 4; aerial leaves 2.5-10 mm long, lanceolate, oblong or ovate, subcordate at the base; submerged leaves, 5-25 mm long filiform. Flowers axillary on the upper parts of stems and branches, (3)4(5)-merous, mauve-pink. Fruit a capsule c. 1.5 mm long, ellipsoid, 2-valved. |
