Description: |
Shrub or small tree, often multi-stemmed with long drooping branches. Bark, grey to brownish, rough and fibrous; single or paired spines sometimes present at the base of small spur-branchlets. Leaves in clusters on short spur-branchlets, obovate-elliptic, 2-7 cm long, dark green above, paler below, softly hairy when young, later almost hairless; base decurrent along the short petiole; margin entire, fringed with hairs. Flowers in clustered spikes on the spur-branchlets, white to creamy-yellow, unpleasantly scented. Fruit broadly winged 4-6 × 2-3 cm, bright plum-coloured to purple-red. |
