Description: |
Slender woody twiner with milky sap, growing from a large tuber. Stems up to 2 m long, often reddish, pubescent. Leaves oppositenarrowly linear to oblong, elliptic or ovate, 2–8 cm long, hairless or minutely pubescent beneath; petiole 1–3 mm long, minutely pubescent. Inflorescences extra-axillary, sessile but sometimes on short lateral shoots, 1–6 flowers simultaneously. Sepals triangular, c. 1 mm long, minutely pubescent. Corolla narrowly conical and strongly contorted in bud, divided more or less to the base, lobes linear. Corona white with a tubular part 2-6 mm long and 1–1.5 mm wide, apical lobes filiform, 0.5–1 mm long. Fruit in paired follicles, 7–20 cm long, grey-green often with purplish bands, smooth. |
