Description: |
Perennial herb, up to 1 m. Leaves in a basal rosette with smaller leaves alternate along the stem, linear to narrowly lanceolate; margins entire to sparsely dentate. Flowers in a terminal raceme, dull yellow to orange, rarely purple. |
Notes: | This species is similar to M. parviflora var. parviflora from South Africa, southern Mozambique and Angola and was considered conspecific with it by Hilliard in The Manuleae: Tribe of Scrophulariaceae (1994).This does not appear to be generally accepted and and M. rhodesiana is still considered a valid species. It mainly differs in somewhat larger flowers with a longer corolla tube and a different calyx morphology. |
