Perennial herb, c. 20 cm high; basal organ a short woody stem, arising from a subterranean pyriform tuber. Leaves lanceolate or oblanceolate, up to 12 × 2.5 cm, undulate to slightly dentate. Corolla dark purple to wine-red, sometimes with a yellow throat; tube funnel-shaped, 4-5 cm long. Fruit c. 2.2 × 2 cm, 4-winged. |
