Description:
Spiny, shrubby perennial, up to 40 cm tall. Leaves opposite, ovate-elliptic, stiffly leathery, sharply pointed at the apex. Flowers apricot-yellow.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: randii: named after Dr R.F. Rand (1856-1937), English Medical doctor and early plant collector in Zimbabwe.
Habitat: In Combretum-Acacia woodland, often on shallow soils on rock or on termite mounds.
