Description:
Shrub or small tree. Bark greyish-brown, flaking to reveal orange-red layer beneath. Young branches densely woolly. Leaves oblong to almost round, densely covered in woolly hairs, with conspicuous veining, grey-green, paler below. Flowers in axillary clusters, pale yellowish-green to bright yellow. Fruit spherical crowned by the persistent calyx lobes, densely covered in velvety hairs, yellow-brown when ripe.

Habitat: In open woodland often among rocks
Altitude range: (metres) 850 - 1800 m

Worldwide distribution: Burundi, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
