Description: |
Scandent shrub or liane up to 7 m high with round or square, sometimes grooved, hairless branches. Leaves opposite, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 4-14 cm long, somewhat shiny and leathery, hairless, veins often impressed above; petiole 5-9 mm long; stipules 4-7 mm long. Flowers in 2-15-flowered, umbellate axillary heads on pedicels 5-8 mm long. Corolla 5-lobed, greenish, cream or white with a ring of deflexed hairs in the tube. Fruit almost bispherical, 14-15 mm wide, greyish-green, sometimes galled. |

Notes: | Similar in its general appearance and its method of climbing to the two species of Keetia occurring in Zimbabwe. However, Psydrax kraussioides can be separated by being entirely glabrous (there are usually some hairs on the leaves of the Keetia species) and the umbellate inflorescence lacks a peduncle (a peduncle is present in both species of Keetia). |
