Description: |
A shrub up to 4 m. tall, usually leafless at flowering time. The capitula are usually borne on numerous, abbreviated, lateral shoots arising in leaf axils of the previous season’s growth. They also occur more laxly arranged in large ± diffuse panicles of the current season’s growth. Achenes hispid, glandular; florets 9-17 per capitulum; florets purple or mauve – compare V. glaberrima. |
