Status: A rare escape
Glabrous climber to 8 m, but commonly cultivated as an annual. Leaves with 4-6 elliptic or oblong leaflets. Flowers borne on long (to 25 cm) peduncles. Calyx large, foliaceous. Corolla c. 5 cm long, pale violet or greenish-purple (or white in cv. 'Alba').
Notes: Included as a naturalised plant on the basis of one undated record from the Vumba by E.A. Edwards.
