Common names:
Description: Liane or climbing shrub. Stem angled, flattened or triangular. Leaves imparipinnate with winged rhachis. Inflorescences axillary on long stalks, bearing paired coiled tendrils. Flowers white. Fruit c. 2.5 cm long, obconical, 3-lobed at the apex, red when ripe. Seeds black, partially enclosed in a white aril.
Notes: An isolated sub-population is known from the Victoria Falls area in W. Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Worldwide distribution: Tropical and subtropical America, tropical & South Africa, Comoros and Madagascar.
