Common names:	Purple tabebuia (English)
Description:	Tree. Leaves 5(-7)-foliolate; petiole 4-13 cm. Leaflets: terminal petiolule shorter than width of the leaflet; basal petiolules less than half as long as adjacent subbasal petiolules; lamina ovate to elliptic; margin entire or slightly and irregularly serrate in upper half. Inflorescence a ± congested terminal panicle. Calyx 4-6 mm, cup-shaped, truncate or weakly 5-lobed, mealy-pubescent. Corolla magenta; throat yellow at flowering time, becoming purplish; tube 2.5-5 cm. puberulous outside. Fruit woody, usually smooth, mostly greater than 1.5 cm wide

Derivation of specific name:	impetiginosus: from the Latin impetigo, skin disease, as it was believed the plant might treat this disease.
