Description of the genus

Terrestrial, epiphytic or lithophytic herbs. Leaves usually numerous, in a basal rosette. Scape erect with a few sheaths. Inflorescence an erect raceme. Flowers numerous, white, pink or lilac, often with darker spots. Sepals briefly united at the base to column and the lip. Petals erect. Lip 3-5-lobed, with or without a spur. Column very short and broad. Pollinia 2, with short caudicles and circular viscidia. Staminodes present. Stigmas ± clavate.

Worldwide: 4 species in eastern and southern Africa

Zimbabwe: 2 taxa.
