Description:	Slender terrestrial herb up to 28 cm tall. Leaf solitary, prostrate, appearing after the flowers are finished, broadly ovate, up to 12 × 11 cm, cordate, acuminate, grey-green above, often purplish below, somewhat pleated along the veins with toothed ridges along the pleats. Inflorescence 2-3(6) flowered at the end of an erect flowering stem. Petals and sepals similar, yellowish-green, linear lanceolate, 1.4-2 cm long. Lip whitish, heavily streaked with purple-brown, 3-lobed; side lobes erect; midlobe c. 10 mm wide, reflexed.

Derivation of specific name:	kotschyi: after Karl Georg Theodor Kotschy (1813-1866), Austrian botanical explorer and plant collector in the Orient.
Habitat:	In deciduous woodland, often forming small colonies on poor soils.
