Description:
Perennial herb with prostrate, trailing stems up to 1 m long. Leaves 3-foliolate with broadly elliptic to obovate leaflets, hairless above, sparsely appressed hairy beneath; petiole 8-40 mm long. Stipules conspicuous and spreading, 6-15 mm long, obliquely ovate-acuminate, often cordate at the base. Flowers bright red, in many-flowered racemes on a peduncle, 5-24 cm long. Pods 18-24 mm long, 6-8-seeded.
Notes: A handsome species, easily recognized by the 3-foliolate leaves and conspicuous stipules.

Habitat: In montane grassland.
