Description:
Medium sized deciduous tree. Bark variable, smooth to rough, fissured or flaking, grey to brown. Leaves imparipinnate with up to 10 pairs of more or less opposite leaflets and a terminal leaflet; leaflets ovate, elliptic to almost round, 3.5-7 cm long, dark green above, much paler below, finely hairy; apex rounded or notched. Flowers in dense axillary and terminal sprays, golden-yellow. Fruit a flattened pod, oval to subcircular, 2.5-3.5 cm in diameter, single-seeded, surrounded by a thick membranous wing.
Notes: Note: subsp. polyanthus is distinguished by the yellowish hairs on the leaflets and indistinct lateral veins.

Habitat: Occurring in wooded grassland and woodland.
