Notes: This species is part of a closely related group, including A. segetalis and A. indica.
Derivation of specific name: crenata: scalloped or crenate, referring to the margins of the female bracts.
Habitat: In mopane woodland, moist grassland and on sandy river banks, often on black clay soils. Also in waste ground and as a weed of cultivation.
