Description: |
Spiny succulent dwarf shrublet with short stems forming 'cushions' of 30 cm high and 50 cm in diameter, occurring in serpentine grassland among rocks in open woodland. Differs from E. tortistyla in its more compact habit of small rounded 'cushions'. |
Notes: | Note: the specimen in the photographs appear to match Euphorbia acervata exactly. However, it was recorded from serpentine hills near Mutare. It may well be that the distribution of certain serpentine soil endemics extends this far but, as these hills are completely isolated from the great Dyke by over 300 km, further research into the status of these taxa is needed. See also Helichrysum serpentinicola. |
