Description: |
Succulent herb up to 70 cm high growing in dense clumps. Branches with growth segments c. 50 mm wide at the apex, narrowing to c. 25 mm towards the base, covered in flattish tubercles and a central, raised leaf scar; upper margin with 3 prickles when young, becoming raised bumps when older> leaves up to 17, tufted in a spreading rosette at the apex of the branches, obovate to sometimes almost spathulate, up to 90 mm long, minutely pubescent; margin thickened, minutely crenulate, often brownish maroon; petiole up to 25 mm long, channeled above. Inflorescences up to 20, clustered near the branch apices. Inflorescence branches with 3 cyathia each; central male and lateral bisexual and more raised; bracts brownish-green with a pinkish tinge; lobes white, broadly oblong with a fringed. Capsule 6 mm wide and long, well exserted on a recurved pedicel, up to 6 mm long, obtusely 3-angled with deeply fimbriate angles. |

Derivation of specific name: | kimberleyana: named after Rose and Mike Kimberley, chairman of the Aloe, Cactus and Succulent Society of Zimbabwe, who collected the type specimen. |
