Description:
Small deciduous shrub,1-3 m tall. Young branches grooved, hairy. Leaves opposite, 4-16 cm long, narrowly ovate to elliptic, hairy below, particularly when young; petiole 15-3 cm; margin entire. Flowers in axillary spike-like inflorescences. Corolla 2-3 cm long greenish-yellow to pale yellow-brown, almost hidden by broadly ovate, pale green distinctly 5-veined bracts.
