Status: Native
Shrub or small tree. Trees in open, sunny situations are often spineless, while forest specimens are armed with straight spines, particularly on young shoots. Leaves opposite, elliptic, light green above, much paler below. Flowers in dense axillary clusters, small, yellow-green. Fruit oblong-ovoid, glossy green, turning brown when when ripe.
Derivation of specific name: inerme: unarmed, without spines
Habitat: On rocky hillsides and in riverine and evergreen forest.
