Description: |
Much-branched shrub, usually single-stemmed, 1-3 m tall. Branches ascending to erect, more or less papillate, densely leafy. Leaves in whorls of 3, linear to linear-lanceolate, 1.5-5.5cm long, hairless; margin entire, often rolled under, sometimes flat. Stipular sheath hairy with at least one narrowly triangular seta, 0.7-1.5 mm long. Flowers in dense clusters at the nodes, greenish-yellow to pale yellow, sometimes reddish-tinged, unisexual; male and female flowers on different plants. Fruit with mericarps oblong, 1.8-3.5 mm long, hairless, reddish-brown, shiny. |
Notes: | Though not listed in Endemic Plants Species of Zimbabwe (A. Mapaura in Kirkia 18-2, 2002), the restricted distribution of this species would justify this as a near-endemic. |
