FZ.11. Bonatea Willd.

Description of the genus

Terrestrial herbs with fleshy, tuberous roots. Stem leafy. Inflorescence terminal. Flowers resupinate. Dorsal sepal free; laterals partly united. Petals 2-lobed. Lip free from the column, 3-lobed, bearing a cylindric spur. Stigmas projecting from the front of the column.

Worldwide: 20 species in tropical and South Africa; also Arabia

Zimbabwe: 4 taxa.
