It is a consortium of 12 major natural history museum libraries, botanical libraries, and research institutions. Its purpose is to make information, which in the past was generally available only to those with physical access to the collections, more widely available.

World herbaria Index Herbariorum This is a searchable database of information about the world's herbaria.
