This impressive site, which has been assembled by Carl Farmer, has a checklist of the plants which occur on the Isle of Skye. Clicking on a species name leads one to a page with photographs and information about the particular plant.
Plant names Southern African Botanical Epithets: A Biographical Etymology This website provides detailed lists of the meanings behind southern African Latin and Greek plant names, compiled by Michael L. Charters. There is much relevant to our flora and much of interest. This is part of a much larger site which covers plant names of California and also information on the wildflowers of southern California. Note that this is a totally different site to the other Calflora site dealing with the Flora of California.
A Sicilian garden Poliantea This link appears to be down (16 January 2017). A website by Stefano Palazzi depicting the plants cultivated in a garden, bought "in a moment of joyful insanity", on the slopes of Etna in Sicily. It features images of many species from warm parts of the world.
